The Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, St. Francis and St. Clare Custody of Nigeria, Enugu, Enugu State has announced the passing of seven brothers in a tragic incident that took place on the evening of May 3, 2025.

According to a release signed by Br. John-Kennedy Anyanwu, OFM Cap. Custos; thirteen of the Brothers departed the Ridgeway Community, Enugu State, for Obudu, Cross Rivers State, Nigeria, but unfortunately had a fatal accident in which seven of the Brothers  died while six of them sustained various degrees of injuries and have been transferred to Enugu for proper treatment.

The names of the Brothers that passed away are:

Br. Somadina Ibe-Ojuludu, OFM Cap;

Br. Chinedu Nwachukwu, OFM Cap;

Br. Marcel Ezenwafor, OFM Cap;

Br. Gerald Nwogueze, OFM Cap;

Br. Kingsley Nwosu, OFM Cap;

Br. Wilfred Aleke, OFM Cap and

Br. Chukwudi Obueze, OFM Cap.

The statement entrusts their souls to the merciful love of God and invites all to join in praying for the happy repose of their souls.

The statement added that Funeral arrangement will be communicated in due course.
