Barely two weeks after the Investiture of Papal Knights and Medalists in Ekiti, the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix Femi Ajakaye elevated three (3) Quasi-Parishes to Parishes in Ekiti Diocese on Friday, December 27, 2024 during the Diocesan End of the Year Mass of Thanksgiving, held at St. Patrick Catholic Cathedral, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The elevation of these new Parishes underscores Bishop Felix Ajakaye's commitment to Salvation of souls by bringing places of worship closer to the people. The new Parishes are Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Ologunsogo, Ado-Ekiti; St. Dominic Catholic Church, Ado-Ekiti and St. Joachim Catholic Church, Emure-Ekiti.  "Priests that are presently working in these new Parishes should maintain the status quo pending the appointment of Parish Priests for the New Parishes”, the Bishop maintained.

Recall that Bishop Felix Ajakaye had named six (6) Quasi-Parishes during the 2023 edition of the Ekiti Diocesan End of the Year Mass of Thanksgiving.

With the elevation of three (3) out of these 6 Quasi Parishes, Ado Deanery now has eleven (11) Parishes and a Quasi Parish, followed by Oye Deanery with ten (10) Parishes and a Quasi Parish, Usi Deanery with nine (9) Parishes, Ilawe Deanery eight with (8) Parishes and a Quasi Parish, Ìkéré and Ikole Deaneries with seven (7) Parishes each, Ijero Deanery with 6 Parishes as well as Ijan and Efon Deaneries having four (4) Parishes each.

Appreciating the Commitment, mutual understanding among Catholic Couples, Selfless services and Talents, Bishop Felix Ajakaye presented gifts to the Acting Pastoral Vicar of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Rev. Fr. Cyril Osadare; the Family of Mr. & Mrs. James Ayeni Olamigoke, the Administrative Secretary, Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Ekiti Diocese; Mr. John Kayode Ayodele among others.
