Care for Yourselves While Thinking About Others, Fr Adeyemi Advises

The Parish Priest, SS Peter & Paul Pro-Cathedral, Lagere, Ile-Ife; Rev. Fr. Peter Adeyemi has admonished faithful on need to be conscious of their wellbeing.

This was part of his message Sunday 21 July 2024 as he also appreciated the Catholic Corpers. He noted that Christ is also interested in the wellbeing of human.

Earlier, he charged Nigerians to be good to themselves and to their fellow being. Having observed that the current sad situation in Nigeria on Nigerians is like that of a sheep without shepherd, because Nigerians are seeking for comfort, hope, good education and other amenities which are unavailable.

He further educated that sheep without shepherd are vulnerable to various forms of attacks, they also wander aimlessly. While they will definitely go hungry, they are malnourished with the little in their possession. He encouraged all to fix their gaze on Christ.

According to him, people trooped to meet Jesus because he provided what they lacked. In turn, Nigerians in whatever capacity they uphold, should be good shepherd. Baptized Christians, especially Catholics were charged to live up to expectation.

According to the Priest, those that does not make Christ their shepherd will lack many things. Like Jesus and his disciples who decided to go to lonely place to take a rest, human beings should care also about their physical and mental health while worrying about others. "As you think of others, remember to take care of yourself so as not to break down" said the priest.

He encouraged quiet times in quiet places for rest and meditation. Fr Adeyemi realized that quiet places can be found even in the office and at home without necessarily restricting it to the Church and far places where there may be need for expenses.

He kept referring Catholics to the necessities of frequenting the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration and the Blessed Sacrament.

He recognized that if the protestants and other Non-Catholics frequent the Chapel this days, how much more should Catholics? According to the Priest, those who don't create time to pray are not in contact with God.

At the Mass, member of Batch B, Stream 2 of the Catholic Corpers were presented with certificates having completed their service year. Fr. Adeyemi appreciated their efforts in the community since their resumption last year"
