Consequent on the pronouncement of His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Abegunrin expanding the numbers of Deaneries in the Ibadan Archdiocese from five to eight, one of the Deaneries, Bodija, has constituted her own Deanery Laity Council and held election of Officers to pilot the affairs of the Council.

The inaugural meeting of the Council was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ilupeju, Bodija, Ibadan on 19th January, 2025. The main activity was the election of Officers. This was conducted by Mr. Simon Senaya and Mrs Hilda Ugwu, the Financial Secretary and Provost 2 of Ibadan Archdiocesan Laity Council under the watch of the Dean of the Deanery Rev. Fr. Joseph K. Akinbinu and the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Rev. Fr.  Omolade

The elected officers of Bodija Deanery Laity Council are:

Mr. Peter Ahaneku (President), Mrs. Florence Okeke (Vice President), Mr. Stephen Ugwu (Secretary), Mrs. Adenyuma Mary (Assistant Secretary), Mr. Oradubanya Sabinus (Treasurer), Mrs Christiana Udoh (Financial Secretary), Mr. Emmanuel Enikanselu (Public Relations Officer) and Mr. Ike Caminus (Provost)

The Dean used the forum to announce Rev. Fr. Wale Ogunyale as the Chaplain of the Council.

The Executive Officers were admonished by the Dean and the Chancellor to put all hands on deck to ensure that the Deanery becomes a trailblazer in the Archdiocese.
