Archbishop Abegunrin Appreciates Ascension Parish
At the solemnity of Epiphany of the Lord, Sunday, 5th January, 2025, the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese; Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Abegunrin celebrated Mass at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State with a thank-you message to the parishioners for being his friendly 'landlord' over the years.
The Chief Celebrant co-celebrated the Mass with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Awotoye, and his Assistant, Rev. Fr. Peace Jemibor.
The Archbishop appreciated the parishioners for their massive turnout on the first Sunday of the year. He admonished them not to give in to gossip, jealousy, and intimidation, but to always promote love and harmony. The Prelate said ‘these vices should not be found in our midst, as Christians and dear people of God.’
Archbishop Abegunrin concluded his remarks by thanking the parishioners for keeping up with the food bank, by catering for many people every month, mostly non-Catholics.
He also announced that he had moved into his retirement home within the Church premises even though he is still in active service, and saying he is sincerely grateful to the parishioners for being his landlord for about 11 years.
His Grace also said the Archdiocese had witnessed a lot of development in recent years, as he rounded off his expression of gratitude by having thanksgiving with the parishioners.
