The Catholic family of SS Peter & Paul Pro-Cathedral, Lagere, Ile-Ife on Sunday 15 December 2024 rejoices as she presents the overall best graduating student at the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. She was declared during the 48 Convocation Ceremony of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State on Friday 13 December 2024. 

Miss Scholastica Chinenye Muoghalu, a Medical Science student, having overshadow all obstacles to obtain a First-Class award classification, did not only emerge as best graduating student at the department of Medicine & Surgery, but also the overall best at the entire Faculty of Clinical Sciences. Chinenye was relieved and grateful that God favoured her in the achievement despite lots of excellent students in her faculty. She did not forget to appreciate her Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. (Dr) Peter Adeyemi for journeying with her in spirit.

The Charismatic was not moved by continuous assertion by some lecturers of the institution known for making derogatory comments that no matter the effort of students, they cannot make distinction in their courses. For students who might be depressed by such intimidating comments, she encouraged them to remain focused while paying no attention. Furthermore, Chinenye was generous to let out her secret of success to other students. According to her, hard work, consistency, prayerfulness is catalyst to academic excellence. However, she added that prayers only, without work, is next to dead.

The lover of Children, Sunday’s School teacher received seven awards in total. One may fear that her expertise is valued in Nigeria before attracting interests abroad. In same vein, another Parishioner, Dr Barrister Ezeoma Okereke was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in law having obtained earlier her LL. B and Master of Law.

Fr Adeyemi who realized that the parish has been blessed in many areas celebrated their achievements and challenged all other students to imbibe academic excellence.
