“PASS ON THE FAITH” QUIZ COMPETITION FINAL TO HOLD ON WEDNESDAY, 11TH DECEMBER, 2024
With the conclusion of the preliminaries of the “Pass on the Faith” quiz competition among some selected Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Ibadan, six schools have emerged to meet for the final of the competition to decide who goes home with first, second and third prizes of the competition.
The final, according to the Director of the Directorate of Religious Education and Coordinator of the “Pass on the Faith” quiz competition, Rev. Fr. Clement Emerue will hold at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Oke – Ado, Ibadan, on 11th of December, 2024.
Fr, Emerue during the second preliminary, which took place at Holy Infant Catholic School, Yemetu, Ibadan had reiterated that the “Pass on the Faith” quiz competition is being organized in honour of V. Rev. Fr. John O’Hea, SMA, who wished that every pupil who passes through the Catholic Schools learn the faith; as well as to evaluate those teaching about the faith in Schools, and the pupils performance.
The Coordinator added that the quiz competition is now going to be an annual event, courtesy of Sir Felix Fapohunda and so, quiz competition for next year shall be based on Liturgical Year C. He encouraged Schools’ Teachers to get copies of the text book (which is already available) in preparation for next year’s quiz competition.
The first preliminary, which held at St. Mary’s, Opere on 22nd of November, 2024 already produced Bishop Finn’s, Old Ife Road (100mks); Louisville, Mokola (88mks); and Sacred Heart, Ring Road (59mks) for the final competition.
At the second preliminary held on 29th November, 2024 at Holy Infant, Mokola, the Schools that participated were: Holy Infant, Yemetu; Sacred Heart, Onireke; Our Lady of Fatima, Eleta and St. Mary’s, Oke – Padi.
The Coordinator announced that two Schools: Hand Maid, Idi Ayunre and MaryHill Convent School, Idi Ape opted out of the competition at the last minutes due to some reasons; while Our Lady of Fatima, Eleta; led by the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Felix Adedigba voluntarily joined the competition, just to have a feel of it.
As usual, the pupils were made to solve puzzle, followed by quiz of ten questions per school and at the end, St. Mary’s, Oke – Padi; Holy Infant, Yemetu; Sacred Heart, Onireke and Our Lady of Fatima, Eleta came first, second, third and fourth with 98mks, 55mks, 51mks and 32mks respectively.
With that, the Six Schools for the final competition on December 11, 2024 are: Bishop Finn’s, Old Ife Road; Louisville, Mokola; Sacred Heart, Ring Road; St. Mary’s, Oke – Padi; Holy Infant, Yemetu and Sacred Heart, Onireke.
Rev. Fr. Emerue appreciated the Competition’s Sponsor, Sir Felix Fapohunda, Rev. Fr. Felix Adedigba, the host school led by Rev. Sr. Immaculata, Staff of DRE, Media and the participating Schools’ Teachers and pupils. He added that apart from the six schools for the final competition, all participating Schools should be at the final to collect their certificates of participation.
Rev. Fr. Felix Adedigba gave both opening and the closing prayers and the final blessing; followed by refreshment and snapping of group photograph.
