HUMILITY SHOULD BE THE IDENTITY TAG OF A CHRISTIAN, FR. ANIOU, CSJ.
As the liturgical year gradually comes to an end, a Josephite’s Priest, Rev. Fr. Arnaud Aniou, CSJ has reminded Christians that even though ‘at the end, we shall see Him face to face’, such is not for all but for those that died in Him, for everyone will reap whatever he/she sowed.
The Priest stated this while celebrating the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B at St. Anne Catholic Church, Ogbere, Ibadan on 17th November 2024. The Chief Celebrant of the day’s Mass, who said that the readings from two to three days earlier like the first and gospel readings of the day have been enlightening Christians about the end of time added that there is hope for those who believe and know God.
According to the Cleric, the end of time does not mean the world will end one day and that those who believe actually know that there is no end, but instead, the beginning of a new life; hence, the need to be humble. “Humility should be the identity tag of a Christian. Today you see someone but next hour, he is no more; this should be a challenge to us. Who are we then not to be humble?” He asked.
Fr. Aniou going further said “Sometimes, we are so arrogant but forget that our life is in the hand of God. In our pride, we boast because we have life.” He therefore admonished all to always be ready and celebrate the Holy Eucharist as if it is going to be our last. “I am proud of my faith in Catholic because we have everything to be close to God and to believe, hence, let us ask for His Grace to remain in His friendship. That the Lord may strengthen our faith.” The priest urged.
Meanwhile, the Parishioners of the Mother Parish and other Outstations thereafter joined St. Maria-Faustina Catholic Church, Amuloko for her 2024 Family Harvest Thanksgiving. The Mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Justine Adeka, CSJ and witnessed thanksgiving of all families, Mother Parish (St. Anne) and other Outstations, while the Celebrant rounded up the thanksgiving. Members of St. Maria-Faustina Catholic Church also entertained all with a drama, titled: “Do away with evil act.”
The Chief Celebrant thanked all on behalf of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Stephen Balogun, for the massive participation, adding that it is always good to thank God for His goodness upon our lives, after which there was refreshment as provided by the Host.
The Harvest Thanksgiving at the Mother Parish is also coming up on 1st December 2024, to be followed the following week 8th December 2024 by the Parish Christmas Carol and 10 Million Naira Fund Raising for Musical Instrument by 1:00pm.
