COCCA, Ibadan Archdiocese Holds Successful Election.

In a remarkable display of unity and enthusiasm, the Catholic Organists, Choirmasters, and Choristers' Association (COCCA) held its election on the 20th of October 2024, resulting in the election of 17 dedicated Executive Council members. 

The event, which took place at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Mokola under the leadership of Prince Charles Fapohunda, who was the Chairman of the Electoral College, saw participation from Choristers across the different Deaneries, showcasing a strong commitment to enhancing the musical liturgy within the Catholic community.

Other members of the Electoral College were: Ms. Joy Aigbe, Professor Gilbert Adie and Barrister Femi Omotosho.

The newly elected Executive Council members bring a wealth of experience and passion for sacred music. Their collective vision aims to foster collaboration among parishes and deaneries, promote musical education, and elevate the standards of liturgical music throughout the Archdiocese.

This successful election marks a significant milestone for the Association, as it not only strengthens its leadership but also reinforces the community’s commitment to nurturing and celebrating the rich tradition of Church music. The Choristers expressed their enthusiasm for the new leadership, optimistic about the innovative initiatives that are expected to enrich the worship experience.

As the Association moves forward, it remains dedicated to its mission of inspiring and training future generations of organists and choristers, ensuring the sustainability and vibrancy of sacred music in the Catholic Church.
