ST. MICHAEL, IDI AYUNRE CELEBRATES CULTURAL AND REGIONAL HARVEST

Sunday 15th of September, 2024 was a memorable and joyful day as parishioners of St. Michael Catholic Church, Idi Ayunre celebrated its first maiden Cultural and Regional Harvest.The Holy Mass was celebrated by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Oniseitan Olatunji Matthew. 

In his homily he said that “we were celebrating the positive elements in our culture and our unity in diversity. The good things the Lord has imbedded in our way of life are brought into our worship; so as to praise Him for all is goodness to us. Even though we are from different regions of the country; we are all one in the name of our Lord. Jesus Christ.”

He said although our culture and tribes may differ but we are all one in Jesus Christ. After the homily, prayer of the faithful was said in ten different languages.

There were also Regional Thanksgiving led by the Coordinators of the regions. South - West (Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Lagos States); South - East (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States); South - South (Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo and Rivers States); North (Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Nassarawa, Plateau, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto etc) and Cotonou (Parishioners of one of the Outstations of the parish).

After the Mass, there was mini - Bazaar sales and reception where there were different cultural displays by HCA and different tribes from the six outstations of the Parish. They included: Tiv Cultural Dance, Igede Cultural Dance, Ibo Cultural Dance and Yoruba Cultural Dance. 

Other Presentations included: Idoma Cultural Dance, Igala Cultural Dance, Cotonou Cultural Dance and many others. 

 Also different cultural delicacies were showcased from different tribes and groups. When the merriment of the day was coming to a close.

Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Alademomi Festus Olanrewaju, the Secretary of the Planning Committee. He appreciated and thanked the Almighty God for making the Cultural and Regional Harvest a successful one. He also appreciated the Parish Priest and the entire parishioners for their cooperation towards the success of this year Cultural and Regional Harvest.

The Closing Prayer and Benediction was said by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Oniseitan Olatunji Matthew.
