Care for Everything Around You, Cleric advises
Jacob BABALOLA (Staff Writer)
As the Universal Church worldwide celebrated ‘Mass for the Care of Creation’, the parish priest of St. Anne Catholic Church, Ogbere, Rev. Fr. Stephen Balogun has admonished Catholic faithful to care for everything around them so that generations to come can also enjoy good things created by God for the benefit of mankind.
The priest noted that all that God created are good but the evil comes from man, for man does not care. “Different seasons, different fruits. We only suffer because we are greedy. Some countries do not have these fruits but through irrigation farming; have them more than us. Many countries have no crude oil but they do not experience scarcity of fuel like us. Some no longer care for themselves, how then will they care for others? So, if we refuse to care for creation, we shall suffer for it tomorrow. Animals, plants, human and ecosystem need water.” The priest stated.
Emphasizing on water as specifically picked by Pope Leo XIV, Fr. Balogun said water has no enemy; being a gift of God. “God has given water to us, we only need to care for it. We must not allow waste and selfishness among us. Caring for water and the environment is the responsibility of all of us.” The homilist said. He therefore urged all to keep their surrounding clean, discourage pollution, teach children to value water and creation.
In continuation of the family harvest thanksgiving of the parish, parishioners joined the families of Ejuwa and Kama to thank God for His goodness upon their families
