Mrs. Stella ADISA

The Archdiocese of Ibadan Catholic Women Organization (AICWO) had her annual seminar and hand-over ceremony on the 16th of August, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The Seminar’s theme was: “Women: Indispensable Collaborators in the Mission of the Church.”

The ceremony started with a Mass presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Benedict Ugwoegbu, assisted by Rev. Fr. Linus Valentine Onyenagubor SDB.

The homily for the day centred on women's roles in the home and society at large. The importance of women in the home, Church and society was emphasized and the priest urged women to always make sure they perform their duties as wives and mothers in their various undertakings.

The Mass ended with a Thanksgiving by all the women in the Archdiocese present, where they danced forward to music from the Don Bosco boys, all regally dressed in various colours of head ties depicting different deaneries present at the event.

Dignitaries from far and near were present.

Past Provincial Presidents, past AICWO officials, Elders in Council, Outgoing and Current executives, Deanery Coordinators and their Executives and other members of AICWO from different parishes graced the occasion. After the Mass, members moved to the parish hall for the seminar and hand-over proper.

Very Rev.Fr. Benedict Ugwoegbu was the speaker at the seminar titled ''Women: Indispensable Collaborators in the Mission of the Church ''. He reiterated women's roles in their various endeavours, called for unity of purpose and admonished them to always be like our Mother Mary.

The handover followed where the outgoing AICWO President, Lady Clara Oke gave a report on her activities as the AICWO President for four (4) years. She fielded questions about the financial status of the organization too and then handed over the key to the Archdiocesan CWO bus to the new President, Amb. Edith Isidahomen; but due to time constraint, all other hand-over of documents was postponed to a later date.

There was cultural displays from deaneries and drama presentations too, where Oke Ado deanery came first and Bodija Deanery came second.

The new President, Ambassador (Mrs) Edith Isidahomen appreciated everyone present and called for unity amongst the women in the Archdiocese in order to move the CWO forward. She solicited for the women's support in order to achieve this.

Award was presented to the outgoing Executives as a sign of appreciation and the new President also gave gifts to them.

The Don Bosco boys gave a wonderful performance at the event ably led by their Priest, Rev Fr. Linus Valentine Onyenagubor SDB. The boys also came with gifts for some members in the Archdiocese.

The seminar/hand-over ended with appreciation from the new AICWO President, Ambassador (Mrs) Edith Isidahomen.
