Growing up, I became a Catholic through the outreach programmes of the Salesians of Don Bosco. My parents did not attend Church, but they allowed me to go because I loved being part of the community. Week after week, I returned home with songs, prayers, and Gospel stories. Over time, my parents saw a change in me and they returned to the Church too. 

After my mother embraced the Catholic faith, one habit shaped our family more than any other. Every evening, she called us together before the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We knelt down as one family and prayed the Rosary. Those evenings became part of my life; the Rosary moved from being a prayer book to becoming a family tradition. Even today, those moments guide my prayer life. God willing, I will hand the same gift to my children and grandchildren.

Many grandparents worry about mobile phones, television, and long hours on social media; those concerns are real, yet your greatest gift is not another warning; your greatest gift is your presence. You don't need a university degree to pass on faith. You need presence. Sit with your grandchildren, pray with them, teach them one prayer at a time, show them how to hold the Rosary and tell them why you trust the Blessed Virgin Mary. Many Catholics learned their first prayers from a grandmother. Many learned to kneel before they learned to read. Those quiet lessons still bear fruit years later. 

Your grandchildren will remember your voice during family prayer. They will remember your faith when life becomes difficult. Faith grows from one generation to another through faithful families.
