In a heartwarming gesture of interreligious solidarity, the Catholic Priests in charge of St. Theresa Catholic Parish in Ijio, Rev. Fr. Joseph Adejumo and Rev. Fr. Philip Ogunlere paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Imam of Ijio Land, Yekeen Buniyamin Adebisi Akanji, on the occasion of Eid al-Kabir, the great feast day celebrated by Muslim faithful across the world. The Chief Imam warmly received the priests, expressing his deepest gratitude for the thoughtful and goodwill visit, while the priests in turn conveyed the festive greetings of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, to the Imam and the entire Muslim community of Ijio.

Rooted in the spirit of love and mutual respect, this beautiful visit stands as a living testimony to the bond of interreligious solidarity between Catholics and Muslims in the community, a gesture that promises to yield even greater fruits of unity, understanding, and brotherhood in the days ahead. Indeed, it was a peaceful and grace-filled encounter, one that reminds us all that genuine dialogue begins not with words alone, but with the simple and powerful act of showing up for one another.

As we celebrate this season, we join our voices in prayer β€” may God bless our priests for this noble act of charity, may peace reign in our communities and in our hearts, and may we grow ever more truly as brothers and sisters. Amen.
