TRIPLE JOY AT ST. LAWRENCE CATHOLIC CHURCH: CELEBRATING TRINITY SUNDAY, OUR LADY, AND OUR CHILDREN
Parish’s Media Team
The atmosphere at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lasokun, was charged with immense spiritual joy as we celebrated a remarkable triple feast: Trinity Sunday, the conclusion of the May Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the annual Children’s Day Celebration.
In a profound homily, parishioners were reminded of the perfect communion of love within the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This same Holy Spirit continues to guide the Church, just as He strengthened Our Blessed Mother Mary throughout her life of obedience. The homily beautifully tied these spiritual realities to our children, emphasizing that they are precious gifts from God who reflect His pure love in our community.
Following the homily, our children took full charge of the liturgy, stepping into various roles with absolute grace. For many, it was a day of historic firsts and deeply felt emotions.
Our readers and liturgical ministers showed incredible resilience. Taiwo, who took the second reading, admitted to being "surprised and scared at first," while Michelle, our psalmist, shared that she "felt scared at first but regained confidence later." Donald, serving as the thurifer, expressed "feeling good and happy about the first experience."
The offertory procession was another highlight, bringing pure delight to those involved. Melvin felt "excited and special carrying a gift for the first time," while Bryan echoed the sentiment, feeling "so good and honoured" by the exact same privilege.
Following the conclusion of the Mass, the community gathered for the solemn conclusion of the May Devotion, offering our final prayers and crowns to our Blessed Mother. Immediately after the devotion ended, the social celebration for the children took full course! The arena erupted with laughter, dancing, and pure fun as the kids were treated to an amazing party.
For the children being celebrated, the day was an overwhelming reminder of God’s goodness. Jonathan joyfully exclaimed, "My Belle dey sweet me as I am being celebrated!" Monalisa and Charity both expressed feeling incredibly happy and "new about the celebration party." Munachi noted feeling deeply "thankful and grateful for the special day," while JaneFrances shared that she felt completely "special and unique" to be honored. Summing up the entire celebration, Allison beautifully noted that he felt happy and experienced "the Love of God for children."
We thank the parish priest, parents, animators, and the entire parish community for supporting our children. May the Holy Trinity continue to bless our homes, and may the maternal care of our Blessed Virgin Mary keep our children safe.
Happy Children’s Day to our future leaders!
