EID EL KABIR 2026: A CALL TO SAVE NIGERIAN CHILDREN FROM FEAR, HUNGER AND CAPTIVITY
Michael OKEOLA
As the Catholic Diocese of Oyo extends warm wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters on the celebration of Eid El Kabir, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo calls all people of goodwill not to surrender to darkness and grief.
Reflecting on the spirit of sacrifice, the Bishop appeals to government and citizens alike, Christians and Muslims to urgently provide the “sacrificial rams” needed to rescue our children from the hands of kidnappers, hunger, insecurity and deprivation.
Just as Isaac in the Bible was rescued with a ram from the knife of death, at Ileya, he urges that Nigerian children be rescued from the tragedy many continue to endure in our time.
In the spirit of sacrifice, mercy and compassion that this feast represents, may we commit ourselves to protecting the vulnerable and building a future of peace and hope for all.
For in saving our children, we preserve our lives and secure our future.
Only then can our celebrations truly carry meaning.
