ST. FRANCIS, SANYO-SOKA WELCOMES HER NEW PARISH PRIEST

The life of a priest is never stationed at a single place. His missionary work takes him to different parishes and requires of him to acquaint himself with all the people around him. The success of a parish reflects the hard work that a Parish Priest has put in his missionary work.

St. Francis Catholic Church was all set to accord a warm welcome to its new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Adeyemo on August 30th at 1:45 pm.  Fr. Jude Adeyemo along with the parishioners of St. Mary Catholic Church, Egbeda arrived at Sanyo- Soka. The new Parish Priest was formally welcomed at the Father’s House of the Church by the outgoing priest, Rev. Fr. Daniel Izebuno and the Parish Pastoral Council Chairman, Mr. Andrew Audu and other parishioners of St. Francis Catholic Church, Sanyo- Soka.

The entire ceremony was carried out in a solemn manner during which Fr. Daniel Izebuno handed over the Parish documents to the new Parish Priest, Fr. Jude Adeyemo. This was followed by the introduction of members of the two parishes to each other.

On September 1st, 2024, the new parish Priest celebrated his first Sunday Mass. In his homily, he said "The world nowadays has been very successful in deceiving us. We have learned to live with ambiguity, double-meanings, and double-standards, especially in matters of morality and spirituality.

We have managed to justify our sins and make them appear and sound harmless by the adroit use of words and expressions.” He further admonished, that the parishioners should allow the word of God, without adding or omitting anything from it, to guide them to the truth, no matter how ugly and painful it is.

For the truth will set them free and lead them to true repentance and conversion of hearts. “The time has come to stop being mere listeners, but doers and followers of the word of God.” He added.

In his first address to the parishioners, it was an emotional moment for all who had gathered in the Church. Fr. Jude Adeyemo spoke about the need for the parishioners to work together with the Parish Priest, build a family where love exists, correct each other in love, desist from discrimination, and avoid speaking ill of someone. He asked God to bless them all abundantly.
