The community is still reeling from the loss of a remarkable woman, Mrs. Juliet Abiona Alaba, who passed away on March 24, 2026, at the age of 62. A devoted Prayer Leader in the Catholic Church, Mrs. Alaba's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to serving others.

 

As news of her passing spread, the community came together to pay tribute to this extraordinary woman, with a wake keep and burial that drew crowds of people from all walks of life. The outpouring of grief and admiration was a fitting tribute to a life lived in service to others.

 

Mrs. Alaba's positive character and generosity had earned her a special place in the hearts of many. She was a devoted mother, who single-handedly raised her children to become successful graduates, despite the challenges she faced after the loss of her husband. Her compassion and kindness knew no bounds, as she opened her home and heart to those in need, never collecting rent from her tenants and providing scholarships to children who needed her help.

 

Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, and her love for reciting the Rosary was a source of comfort and strength to her and those around her. The testimonies of her Godly character from Christians, Muslims, and Traditional worshippers alike are a testament to her impact on the community.

 

As the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Onifade, noted, the testimonies of her life and legacy could have gone on all night, a fitting tribute to a woman who touched so many lives. We extend our condolences to her children and Sr. Juliana Egbeleke SSL, who had the privilege of bringing her up. May God comfort and console them in this difficult time. Mrs. Alaba's life may have been cut short, but her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
