SSMA SUPERIOR GENERAL VISITS FIDITI CONVENT ON CANONICAL VISIT

The Superior General of the Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel (SSMA), Rev. Sr. Adenike Regina Oke, SSMA, accompanied by Rev. Sr. Elizabeth Aina, SSMA, the Zonal Coordinator for the Ibadan Zone, paid a canonical visit to the SSMA Convent in Fiditi from March 7–10, 2026.
They were warmly received by Rev. Fr. Michael Falade, Parish Priest of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fiditi, alongside members of the parish community. The parishioners expressed their appreciation and joy at the presence of the visiting Sisters and also commended the dedication of the Sisters who live and serve among them.
The convent of the Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel in Fiditi was built, blessed, and officially opened on January 8, 2025, by the Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo.
The Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel are an indigenous female religious congregation founded in Ekiti Diocese by the Late Bishop Emeritus of Ekiti, Most. Rev. Patrick Michael Olatunji Fagun on November 6, 1986. This religious congregation was established for the spread of evangelization through inculturation and operates as a religious institute of diocesan rights with canonical status.
Today, the Sisters live and work across several dioceses in Nigeria as well as in parts of Africa, Europe, and America. They witness to the Gospel of Christ through various apostolates including pastoral ministry, education, social work, healthcare, counseling, legal services, women and youth empowerment, accounting, and other professional fields.
Within the Catholic Diocese of Oyo, the Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel currently serve in diocesan schools located in Okeho, Iwere-Oke, and Fiditi. Among them is Rev. Sr. Mary-Assumpta Taiwo, SSMA, who serves as the Diocesan Directress of Religious Education for the Diocese and also the current National Sister Adviser for Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria.
