Laity Quiz Competition: St. Anne Ogbere to Represents Oke – Ado Deanery at Archdiocesan Level.

    The Oke-Ado Deanery Laity Quiz Competition took place at St. Francis Catholic Church, Sanyo-Soka on Sunday February 8, 2026. Nine Parishes registered for the competition thus: St Francis Sanyo-Soka, St Micheal Idi Ayunre, St Eunan Odo Oba, St Leo Challenge, OLF Eleta, St Anne’s Ogbere, Christ the Good Shepherd Felele, Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Joyce B and St Joseph, Oke-Ado. However, contestants from St. Joseph Oke-Ado arrived while the quiz had already started and therefore could not participate).

     Each of the above parishes was represented by 3 candidates. The competition which started about 12noon was jointly conducted by Rev. Fr. Jude Adeyemo (the Quiz Master), Mr. Francis Ojo (representing Laity Chairman), Mrs. Felicia Akila and Mr. Emmanuel Ugwu. The Quiz which involved 24 contestants was satisfactorily conducted without hindrance of any sought.

Areas covered by the quiz competition were: Gospel of St. John, Chapters 1 – 10; Church’s Current Affairs; the Life of Carlo Acutis; Laity Manual and Catholic Catechism and Doctrine (CCD).

     St. Anne Ogbere is expected to represent the entire Oke – Ado Deanery at the Archdiocesan level for the final Quiz Competition. It is worthy of note that one of the contestants, Francis Babalola excelled in the competition by answering the highest number of questions correctly and conveniently beyond the audience expected and so elevated his parish, St. Anne Parish, Ogbere to the first position. Many people were heard praying for him to attract enviable Scholarship to enable him go higher academically, because of the skill he exhibited during the quiz competition and So shall it be in Jesus’ Name!

    At the end of the quiz competition, St. Anne Ogbere (represented by Babalola Francis, Orji Emmanuella and Babalola Theresa) emerged as the overall winner with 40 marks, seconded by St. Francis Sanyo-Soka (represented by Audu Ochayi Francis, Edoh Owoichoechi Elvis and Audu Ochanya Felicity) with 34 marks while Christ the Good Shepherd (represented by Oluwasegun Emmanuel, Henrietta Ofeimu and Emmanuella Agbowo) came third with 20 marks.

The Archdiocesan Laity Quiz Competition is expected to come up on 28th February, 2026 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola, Ibadan.
