The members of the Association of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Ibadan Archdiocese, gathered together at Christ the King Catholic Church, Odo-Ona for 2026 Promoter Forum and Inauguration of the newly elected executives officers.

The progrmame started with Rosary recitation led by the Archdiocesan promoter Officer who also served as guest speaker, Bro. Sebastine Uche. He delivered his lecture on Leadership, Management and accountability as the pillar of successful society. The second Lecture was delivered by Bro. Gabriel Adewole who lectured on Leadership Practices and Roles for Performance of elected officers.

After the questions and answers from two lectures delivered by the two guests, members of the association moved directly into the Church for Holy Mass immediately after the recitation of Angelus. The Holy Mass was celebrated by the Archdiocesan Spiritual Director, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Adeyinka Ajewole. His homily was based on first and Gospel readings of the day. He explained the role of Saul and his son Jonathan in the reading and further advised the newly elected executive officers of the Association.

Furthermore, he enjoined the executives not to think that their new position is very difficult to carry out as being expected from you". He advised the new executive officers to move closer to God and mediate on His word daily and allow the spirit of God to direct them on all their undertakings.

 

He urged them to lead with humility, patients, dedication and unwavering commitment to the teaching of the Catholic Church and the Association’s manual and do not impose their own opinion on members, either good or bad, or mislead them. He reminded the newly elected officers that leadership in the Church is a call to serve and not to be served. He further urged them to work together as a team to achieve success and prayed for their successful tenure in office.

 

Immediately after the Holy Mass members moved directly to the Church Hall for the second part of the programme where the inauguration of the officers took place as officiated by the Archdiocesan Spiritual Director Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Adeyinka Ajewole. The newly elected Archdiocesan President, Bro Matthew Abe in his acceptance speech appreciated members for electing him as the president. He promised to take the Association to a greater height. The immediate Past President Bro. Peter Kehinde Adigun handed over the Association banner to the new president Bro. Matthew Abe.

The new General Secretary Bro. Joshua Olusanya in his closing remarks appreciated all members who came from within and outside Ibadan to attend the promoter forum. He sincerely appreciated the members of host parish for their nice refreshment. He prayed for God Almighty to bless and enrich their purse abundantly.

The closing prayer was led by the newly elected Publicity Secretary Bro. J.O. Molade, who prayed for journey mercies for members.

 

Meanwhile, members are hereby reminded of the Association first quarterly general meeting slated for Saint Gabriel Catholic Church Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo, on Saturday 14th February, 2026 by 12:00noon prompt.
