ARCHDIOCESE OF IBADAN HOLDS 2025 CHRISTMAS CAROL

The 2025 Carol Service, held on the 30th of November at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Oke Ado Ibadan, was a dignified and uplifting celebration that brought together members of the Church, invited guests, and the wider community in a shared atmosphere of worship and thanksgiving.
The programme was thoughtfully arranged to reflect the essence of the Christmas season with the theme ‘’FOR THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL COME TO REIGN FOREVER MORE (LUKE1:33).
The service commenced with an opening prayer led by the Dean of Oke Padi Deanery, Very Rev. Fr. Richard Omolade, after which the Archdiocesan choir led the congregation into a series of beautifully rendered Christmas hymns and choral anthems. Their harmonious performances, delivered with excellence and reverence, set a serene tone for the evening.
Other Presentations included those of: St Cecilia student choir, Our Lady seat of wisdom UI; Catholic Women Organization; St Theresa Minor Seminary, Oke Are; Regina Mundi, Iwo; SS Peter and Paul Major Seminary Choir; Oke Padi Deanery Choir; Catholic Men Organization; Oke Offa Deanery Choir; Grace Note Men’s Choir; Archdiocesan priests; MMM Sisters Eleta and the children’s choir, Holy Childhood Association who also presented a delightful selection of carols, adding warmth and innocence that resonated with the audience.
Scripture readings were taken at intervals, each highlighting key moments in the Nativity story. These readings served as a reminder of the spiritual significance of the season and provided moments of quiet reflection amidst the musical presentations.
Special solos by Mr Emmanuel and Miss Funke Adesanya and instrumental pieces further enriched the programme, showcasing the diverse gifts within the Catholic Church.
The Christmas Message was delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Richard Omolade after which the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ibadan, His Grace, Most Rev. Gabriel Ojeleke Abegunrin lit up the Christmas tree and the cutting of the Christmas cake was done with His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Felix Alaba Job, Very Rev. Frs Gregory Oyelami (Vicar General) and Richard Omolade (Dean, Oke Padi Deanery), The music Chaplain, Youth representative, Mr Felix Adoroh (CMO president), Lady Clara Oke (CWO President) as well as children.
In addition to the musical and scriptural segments, the service created an atmosphere of fellowship and unity. Members reconnected, shared smiles, and expressed gratitude for the blessings of the year. The venue was adorned in simple yet elegant Christmas décor, contributing to the overall beauty and serenity of the occasion.
The 2025 Carol Service was, without doubt, a memorable and spiritually refreshing event. It successfully prepared the hearts of attendees for the Christmas season while reinforcing the message of love, peace, and goodwill.
The vote of thanks was given by the Music Chaplain Rev. Fr. Peter Ibimiluyi and the closing prayer was led by Very. Rev. Fr. Francis Omolade.
