Seeds of Vocation Planted Across Ibadan Archdiocese Annual rallies inspire youth to consider priesthood and religious life

The Vocation Directorate of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ìbàdàn in conjunction with her seminarians, has taken the message of vocation to every corner of the Archdiocese through its annual rallies, held this year in all deaneries. The initiative sought to encourage young people to discern the priesthood or consecrated life, while rallying parish communities to support them.
In total, about forty seminarians participated in the rallies across the deaneries, participating and functioning at multiple Masses, visiting outstations, and engaging directly with parish youth groups. The events combined brief admonition during liturgical celebration with personal interactions afterwards, allowing seminarians to share their vocation stories and answer questions. Several young men expressed genuine interest in answering the call to the priesthood, while many others were inspired to reflect more deeply on their own calling.
Parish priests across the Archdiocese warmly welcomed the seminarians, introducing them to the congregations and offering words of encouragement to the faithful. Parish communities extended hospitality by hosting and providing logistical support, making the rally not only spiritually enriching but also an experience of ecclesial solidarity.
Overall, this year’s vocation rally demonstrated the growing commitment of both seminarians and parish communities to fostering vocations. With seeds planted in the hearts of the youth and the continued prayers of the faithful, the Archdiocese looks forward to a fruitful harvest of future labourers in the Lord’s vineyard.
