The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah are very grievous sins against God because they challenge and attack God’s creative act.

God created man and woman and in turn gave them the mandate to procreate (Genesis 1:27): “Man and woman He created them”. Not man and man, or woman and woman, as the case may be.

The sin of Sodom, otherwise known today as “Sodomy”, goes against God’s desire for man to procreate, and therefore, pitches man against God. 

Also in this category is the sin of bestiality, that is, man or woman having sexual affairs with animals. God’s will is that the bodies of man and woman are meant to complement each other.

These categories of sins, thus, challenge God’s creative plan and negate human sexuality, which is ordered to the mutual self-giving of the man and woman through the conjugal act exclusive and proper to spouses.
