ST ANNES IGANGAN CELEBRATES ST ANNES FEAST DAY
Every 26th of July is a memorable day of the feast of St Joachim and Anne. This year St Annes Feast day was colorful for St Annes Catholic Church Igangan, being the first of it’s kind with so many activities laid aside. The program began on Monday 22nd till Sunday 28th of July with different activities.
The Program began on Monday with Novena prayer and Mass and goes like that till Wednesday where we had visitation to the Aged Parishioners and those who are Lukewarm in faith to encourage and pray for them.
Also Thursday was not left out with Novena and Mass and on Friday 26th of July being the Feast day of St Anne; all the Parishioners in large numbers gathered at St Annes grotto to pray and to listen to a talk which was delivered by the Seminarian, Peter Omonipo on the topic; Life of St Annes; he calls on people to imitate the life of St Annes being a virtuous woman who lived a virtuous life.
Hence the program was concluded with a Mass which was celebrated by the Parish Priest; Rev Fr Callistus Afolabi. On Saturday 27th of July, there was a Volleyball Match between the CWO and the CMO of the parish and it ended with 2:0 in favour of CWO.
Sunday 28th of July was the grand finale of the Feast day with Thanksgiving Mass which was celebrated by the Parish Priest; Rev Fr Callistus Afolabi and was con -celebrated by the Priest in charge of St Rita Catholic Church Olowu Igangan; Rev Fr Victor Ugbor. in his homily; Rev Fr Callistus Afolabi encourage the people to emulate the life of St Annes, a life which encapsulates virtues and to be generous like the little boy who gave his bread and the Fish in the Gospel to feed thousands of people.
Immediately after the Mass, the people gathered outside for the second part of the celebration where the invited guests and all present were entertained with various songs presentation by the various groups in the Church. There was also the launching of
Solar inverter for the Church at the program. After then was the cutting of the cake at the grotto of St Anne followed by the vote of thanks by the Parish Laity Chairman; Mr Rufus Alapode and the Final Benediction was done by the Parish Priest.
