FR. SIMEON OYETUNMBI BURIES PARENTS

Amb. Edith ISIDAHOMEN

"If we died with Christ, it is certain that we will be alive in him, and if we are righteous till end, it is certain that we shall reign with him"

The above assurance was given at the Funeral Service for Late Rev. Johnson Adeboye Oyetunmbi and Mama Victoria Adunni Oyetunmbi at Christ Anglican Church, Wasimi, Ipetumodu, Osun state on Friday 25th April 2025.

The homilist, Rev. Fr. Anthony Olagoke in his homily clarified that resurrection is not an addition to a Christian or the Christian’s faith; rather, resurrection is the central theme of the Christian’s faith which can be seen in the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (Icor 15:12-17)

"The gospels in the Bible did not explain the Resurrection for us, instead Resurrection itself explains and gives good meaning to the gospels, hence, without resurrection, there is no gospel!" The Homilist charged.

Fr. Olagoke pointed that even though it is certain that everyone will die unavoidably, yet a lot of people are afraid of death despite the challenges and difficulties around. He encouraged everyone not to be afraid of death, because the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has given death a new meaning.

"Beloved, we need not be afraid of death, what is right is to always prepare for death every time." The homilist encouraged.

He acknowledged the presence of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, His Lordship, Most Rev. John Oyejola, Priests, religious and everyone at the funeral service.

He commiserated with the children of the deceaseds which include Rev. Fr. Simeon Oyetunmbi, family, friends and well-wishers present. He congratulated Fr. Simeon Oyetunmbi and his siblings for properly celebrating the lives of Papa and Mama Oyetunmbi.

He noted that the gathering is to celebrate the exemplary lives of Late Rev. Johnson Adeboye Oyetunmbi and Mama Victoria Adunni Oyetunmbi. He thanked God for the godly lives they lived which made everyone to gather to commit them to God's hands.
