CAEAN Summit Inspires Faith and Digital Mission: Abuja, Nigeria: March 27-30. 2025

The Catholic Artistes and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN) held its National Summit and Leadership Training in Abuja, hosted by the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja. Themed “Reminiscence: Evolving for Positive Change in Digital Communication, Upholding Our Catholic Faith,” the event gathered members nationwide to strengthen their mission.

On March 28, Day 2 began with a Mass led by Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop of Abuja. In his homily, he urged Catholics to embrace humility and service, citing Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. He highlighted the threefold mission—priestly holiness, kingly service, and prophetic truth—saying, “Time spent for God is not wasted.” CAEAN President Amb. Edith Isidahomen followed, calling for responsible digital evangelization. Keynote speaker Mr. Babatunde Obalana inspired attendees with talks on visionary leadership and CAEAN’s 25-year legacy, pushing for bold innovation as the group marks its Silver Jubilee.

Day 3, March 29, opened with a Mass by Rev. Fr. Samuel of Onitsha Archdiocese, who emphasized humility over pride in all aspects of life. Very Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh, CAEAN National Chaplain, delivered the CBCN President’s message, encouraging positive social media use. “I believe in CAEAN and your vision,” he declared, inviting all to Communication Week on May 25.

Group discussions explored leadership and digital transformation, followed by movie auditions. A visit to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) included a tour and Fr. Umoh’s reminder: “No pastoral work thrives without communication.” The day closed with news of Rev. Fr. Anthony Akiwowo’s passing, honored with silence and prayer.

The summit ended on March 30 with a closing Mass, sending participants home inspired to live their faith and reshape Catholic media.
