EVERY DAY SHOULD BE MOTHERS’ DAY…FR. BALOGUN ADVISES WOMEN.

Impressed by the way members of Catholic Women Organization of St. Anne Parish, Ogbere dressed beautifully for the celebration of Mothers’ day, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Stephen Balogun has admonished them to make every day Mothers’ Day, their birthday, to be glad and to give thanks for the grace of sleeping and waking up.

The priest said this during his homily with the theme: “Come to your senses, repent and return to God” at the celebration of 4th Sunday of Lent, also known as ‘Rejoice Sunday’.

Fr. Balogun told the women that if they fail to celebrate themselves, nobody will celebrate them. He also condemned the attitude of not saying ‘thank you, Lord’ through the offering of Mass for the Mothers’ Day celebration, which he described as the greatest thing to do.

The CAN Coordinator in Ona Ara LGA of Oyo State observed that many times, Christians ask for things out of greed, avarice but later realized it is worthless like the prodigal son in the Gospel reading of the day, Luke 15:1-3, 11-32.

He however, enjoined the women to learn to caution themselves if nobody cautions them, like the people of Nineveh came to their senses and God relented of the destruction He had threatened.

The priest urged that it is in the quietness of our life that we can receive sense, like Jesus Christ who often retreated to quite places and so, the women should examine their lives whether they are good mothers at home and not just celebrating Mothers’ day. “It is a great chance the Church is giving to us. What is the reason for our rejoicing? All of us are different. As a mother, father or child, are you really happy at home? If not, retrace your steps. Each person should identify which of the characters in the day’s Gospel he/she represents.”

The priest advised the parents to train their children to have knowledge and refrain from the saying: ‘School is scam.’ He added that forgiveness is two-way; you forgive others and also forgive yourself.

The CWO members also took charge of all the duties of the functionaries at the Mass. They as well entertained all with music and dance.

Three members, namely: Mrs Marcelina Adewuyi (parish CWO President), Mrs Josephine Oyasor and Mrs Elizabeth Adebayo were also presented with certificate of participation for a seminar that took place at St. Gabriel, Mokola.
