Forgive Yourself and Reconcile with God!

To achieve the purpose of our creation, let's repent like Peter and return to God. In response to the man who confronted him, Peter said, "I swear that I am telling the truth! May God punish me if I am not! I do not know that man!" Just then a cock crowed, and Peter remembered what Jesus told him: " Before the cock crows, you will say three times that you do not know me." He went out and wept bitterly. Mt 26:74-75.

We saw how a woman caught in the act of committing adultery was brought before Jesus. When Jesus set her free from her enemies she changed and became a saint. Hence, we should not think our sins are too many to be forgiven by God. Jesus said in Mt 9:13, "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. I came not to call the righteous but sinners."

Judas repented but did not return to God. Mt 27:3-5 says, "When Judas the traitor learnt that Jesus had been condemned, he repented and took back the thirty silver coins to the chief priest and elders.  "I have sinned by betraying an innocent man to death!" he said. "What do we care about that?" they answered. "That is your business!" Judas threw the coins down in the Temple and left; then he went off and hanged himself.

On the contrary, when David sinned and forgave himself he went back to God. Through Prophet Nathan, God asked David in 2 Samuel 12:9 "Why then, have you disobeyed my commands? Why did you do this evil thing? You had Uriah killed in battle; you let the Ammonites kill him; and then you took his wife! You sinned in secret, but I will make this happen in broad daylight for all Israel to see." And David said, "I have sinned against the Lord." Nathan replied, "The Lord forgives you; you will not die." So, God spared David even though the child died.

As Christians we are the chosen people of God who have received God's mercy as emphasized in 1Peter 2:9-10. So, do not allow sin to drive you away from God. But don't go back to your sinful way after your repentance. Rather be in a loving relationship with God to know Him better that His words may dwell in your heart and bear fruits.

Sin separated us from God but Jesus came to close the gap. This special privilege should overwhelm us such that by the power of Jesus working within us, His glory will shine in our lives and draw others to Him.

Rather than allow your excessive preoccupation with the past stops you from repentance, look into Jesus Christ on the cross, feel the crown of thorns, the nails with which He was hanged and the blood gushing out of His side, then weep for your numerous sins now! Jesus is still moving round to recover His lost sheep like He did to His two disciples on their way to Emmaus.

After Saul's approval of Stephen's murder, he wanted to go further and destroy the Church. Jesus asked him, "Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? ..... I am Jesus, whom you persecute. But get up and go into the city where you will be told what you must do." Acts 8:3, 9:4-6.

If Our Loving Jesus could forgive Saul and changed him to Paul (see Timothy 1:12-13) what are you still waiting for?

Wherever you are and whatever sin you may have committed, weep like David and go to Jesus today before it is too late: Time and tide wait for no one; today you know, tomorrow may be uncertain for you! In Isaiah 1:18, God said, "Now, let's settle the matter. You are stained red with sin, but I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your sins are deep red, you will be as white as wool." Thank you all.
