GOD OFTEN ATTRACTS US WITH SOMETHING …FR. MOLADE

The Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ogbere – Oloba, Ibadan, Rev. Fr. Henry Molade has said that those sent by God to carry out one task or the other are often attracted with something like it was in the case of Moses in the first reading of the 3rd Sunday of Lent, Year C (Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15).

The priest, who was the Chief Celebrant at St. Anne Catholic Church, Ogbere, Ibadan added that while sharing experiences among the priests as to what led each into becoming priest; it was discovered that many went into priesthood as a result of different factors. He, however stated that the journey of those sent by God is not always very easy, but the message remains the same, repentance. “Some think Christianity is a bed of roses, but before Easter Sunday, there must be Good Friday.”

Fr. Molade condemned Christians’ attitude of going back to their sins, contrary to the words they proclaimed in the Catholic Hymn “God of Mercy and Compassion.”  He said that for Christians, God’s mercy is always there, but are they taking the opportunity of that second chance? Hence, Christians are warned by Christ in the day’s Gospel of the need to repent in order not to perish.

The cleric added that God always gives us second chance, like in the parable of the fig tree, hence, Christians should realize that God expects them to bear good fruit every day, every moment and every year, for when they die, they are going to face that same God, who is compassionate but also just.

The priest appealed to the parishioners to try their best to do what God demands of them like St. Paul, who was faithful to the words of God by staying away from the things, moments or those that will lead them to sin.

The day’s Mass witnessed series of thanksgivings including that of Corpers Matthias and Joy, thanking God for successfully completing their service year, family of Catechist Matthias Ejuwa thanking God for His protection and birthday thanksgiving of Mr Kenneth Ugwu.

There was also a Laity Mini-Harvest as directed by the Archdiocesan Laity Council to conclude the Laity Week that started on Sunday, 16th March 2025.
