Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven –

This beatitude reminds us that following Christ’s call will sometimes cause people who have not yet embraced the Gospel to react angrily and even violently.

We are encouraged by this beatitude to endure their ridicule or opposition and even persecution with the patience and forgiveness of Christ.
