PA DOMINIC SUNDAY KEHINDE TAKURO LAID TO REST
The funeral ceremony of late Pa Dominic Sunday Kehinde Takuro held on 27th and 28th February, 2025 was hugely successful. The ceremony began with Christian wake on Thursday, 27th February, 2025 at St. Mary Cathedral Hall, Oke-Padi, Ibadan and it witnessed the gathering of the wife to the deceased, children, family members, friends and associates.
In his short homily, the Asst. Cathedral Administrator, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Azeez described the deceased as a man of truth, courage and love, who took his faith very serious while on earth. He said late Pa Dominic Takuro was one of the few that cared about his (Fr. Azeez) well-being at the Cathedral and always advised him at every given opportunity. He encouraged all in attendance to focus on Christ and be ready at all times for death.
The wake keep had in attendance Rev. Frs Patrick Akinjo, Richard Olofingboyegun and Gabriel Azeez.
On Friday, 28th February, 2025, the funeral Mass was held at St. Mary Cathedral , Oke-Padi, Ibadan. This also witnessed the larger gathering of family members, friends, associates, wife and children of the deceased.
In his homily, the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Julius Akinyode described the deceased as a man of truth who was always active and functioning at the Parish while on earth. "Late Pa Dominic Sunday Kehinde Takuro was a man of truth and courage. He is always available for Mass and he never comes to Mass late. I remember the first Parish Pastoral Council meeting I had in this Parish almost a year ago, the Archbishop was in attendance. Whenever there is a point raised and it doesn't go down well with Pa Takuro, he would raise his hand, gave his own idea and advice. He is never a man than gossips, rather, he will say the truth to your face, no matter your rank in the Church, unlike some people who will be laughing with the priests, but spoil their reputation behind them. This man was very simple, easy-going and always caring for the wellbeing of the priests," he said.
V. Rev. Fr. Akinyode further encouraged those in attendance to work for good legacies and memories because when we are gone, whatever we do shall become a point of reference and our memories shall be refreshed with our deeds. He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased. The Cathedral Administrator was assisted at the funeral Mass by Rev. Frs: Richard Olofingboyegun, Christopher Areoye and Charles Onyemah.
The Children had their thanksgiving, followed by vote of thanks delivered by one of them, Mr. John Takuro.
After the Mass, the body of Pa Dominic Sunday Kehinde Takuro was interred at the Catholic Cemetery, Oke-Are, Ibadan, while the guests were entertained at St. Mary Cathedral Compound.
