OAU Chaplaincy Inaugurates New Harvest Committee

The Catholic Chaplaincy of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has inaugurated a new Harvest Committee, with Rev. Fr. Michael Akinsode, the parish priest, presiding over the ceremony. The event which took place on the 16th of February 2025, marking the beginning of a four-year tenure for the committee members.

In his address, Rev. Fr. Akinsode expressed deep appreciation for the outgoing executives, commending their dedication and service. He then officially appointed Prof. Fadiya as the Chairman of the new Harvest Committee. Other members included Prof. (Mrs) Orisadare, Dr. E. O. Akubor, Dr. E. Ugwu, Dr. (Mrs) Tchokossa, Mr. Joachim Agbakwuru, Mrs. Adejumo, Mr. Victor Igboanugo, Mr. Bolu Famokunwa, and two other representatives from NFCS.

Speaking to the newly inaugurated committee, Rev. Fr. Akinsode emphasized the commitment required for their service, noting that they would invest their time, money, and resources for the growth of the Church. He also acknowledged that disagreements may arise but encouraged them to see such moments as opportunities for the betterment of the Church and humanity.

The priest concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the committee members, asking for God's blessings upon their homes. The congregation responded with a resounding round of applause, signifying their support and encouragement for the new team.

The Harvest Committee will be responsible for coordinating the annual Church harvest and other related activities over the next four years.
