Put Your Trust Only on God and not on Anyone or Material Possession-Fr Michael Olayemi

The Assistant Parish Priest of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Apete, Ibadan Rev. Fr. Michael Olayemi has admonished Christians to put their trust only on God who does not fail nor disappoint but always and ever ready to fulfil all His promises as other avenues to seek help such as wealth, power etc. Fr Michael gave this admonition while delivering his homily at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Papa-laogun, Apete, Ibadan on Sunday, 16th February, 2025.

He reflected on the words of Jeremiah from the First reading that blessings come upon a man when he puts his total trust in the Lord, that GOD calls one by one's name and not by your sins which shows how dear we are to God. He made reference to Peter in the scripture whose situation was turned around by God despite his professionalism in fishing but was blessed on the account of the trust he has placed on God and said when God blesses you, those around you will benefit as the case of Peter who toiled all through the night but was eventually blessed by God with the huge number of fish he caught and everyone around him rejoiced and benefited.

He affirmed that though trusting in God is not easy but be consoled by the words of St. Paul who says, his grace is sufficient for us, he concluded.

Earlier at Mass, the Parishioners were in high spirit which was glaringly sustained with the great honour they were greeted with by the presence of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin as the Chief Celebrant of the Mass.

He further encouraged all to rise to their duties by carrying them out with joy for the love of God and His Church. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Wale Taiwo on behalf of the Pastoral Council and the entire Laity of the Parish thanked the Archbishop for his visit to the Parish and prays God's continuous strengthen in the ministry God has entrusted in his care.
