
SAINT THERESA CATHOLIC PARISH, IJIO, THE TWINS MOTHER
Saint Theresa Catholic Parish, Ijio again in this year 2025 has two of her sons raised to the Order of the Catholic Priesthood. Out of the three Deacons raised to the Order of the Ministerial Priesthood on the 15th Februrary, 2025 by the Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Bishop Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Ijio parish is blessed to have two candidates among them namely Rev. Fr. John Ayandapo AYANWOLA and Rev. Fr. Leonard Oluwatimileyin AJEREOLA.
Following the Priestly Ordination, on the 16th Februrary, 2025 each of them was warmly received by the rejoicing crowds consisting Christians, Muslims and Traditional Religious adherents in their different Churches namely; Saint Pius Catholic Church, Idiko-Ile and Saint Mary Catholic Church, Ayegun-Wasinmi Border in thanksgiving for what God has done for these two Churches being the first indigenous Priests from the two Churches.
Fr. Joseph Ogundipe in the homily told the newly ordained priests to always be aware of their state of life and live the dignity of their vocation, he added that they are spiritual Fathers to the sheep in their care.
The presentation of Staff (walking stick) by the Royal family of Adjere from Savé (Republic of Benin) added colour to the reception programme. The Staff is a sign of authority of a heir. There were cultural dance presentations such as ‘agbaja’ cultural display. The celebrations was graced with the presence of Priests, Religious Sisters, families and friends even from across the Border, His Royal Majesty Oba Nicholas Oyelami FOLARANMI, The Onidiko of Idiko-Ile; Olori Lydia Alao of Alayegun, Ayegun-Wasinmi Border were also present at the celebrations.
