
BISHOP BADEJO LAYS FOUNDATION OF ST. MARY’S RECTORY, AYETORO OKE
Joy filled the hearts of parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ayetoro Oke, as the foundation of their rectory was officially laid on February 8, 2025 by His Lordship, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo.
The event began with a Eucharistic celebration, concelebrated by the Priest in charge, Rev. Fr. Anthony Ojediran. During his homily, Bishop Badejo expressed gratitude to all parishioners who had contributed to the growth of the Church since its inception. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their commitment, reminding them that their labor in God’s vineyard is not only rewarded on earth but also in heaven. The Bishop also called on the faithful to lead exemplary Christian lives, emphasizing the inevitability of death and offering prayers for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Emmanuel Yakubu.
In his remarks, Fr. Anthony Ojediran thanked God for making the day’s event possible and expressed his deep appreciation to Bishop Badejo for his continuous support of the parish. He also warmly welcomed the Dean of Ijio Deanery, Rev. Fr. Jude Awua, as well as the Catechists of Ijio Deanery, who were present for their meeting.
Following the Mass, the solemn foundation laying ceremony took place, marking a significant milestone in the history of the parish. Speaking after the event, the Pastoral Council Chairman, Mr. Joshua Ogunlere, expressed his delight at witnessing such an important occasion.
Similarly, the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) Chairperson, Mrs. Cecilia Adebola Yussuf, shared her excitement and prayed for the swift and successful completion of the rectory.
The day’s event ended on a joyful note, as parishioners expressed gratitude to God and pledged their continued support towards the realization of the rectory project.
