The much-anticipated “Rev. Fr. John O’Hea Pass on the Faith Parish Quiz Competition” was successfully held on Saturday, 1st February 2025, at St. Leo, Challenge. This year’s group A preliminaries brought together eight parishes in a spirited contest that tested their knowledge of faith, Bible, and general intelligence. 

 

Competition Format and Grouping 

The quiz was divided into two key segments: 

1. The Puzzles Round – A test of logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. 

2. The Questions Round – Featuring ten rounds of challenging questions for each participating parish. 

The competing parishes were grouped as follows: 

Group A:  St. Leo Challenge, St. Mulumba Alakia, St. Gabriel Mokola, St. Thomas Agbowo, St. Anne Sasa, St. Anne Ogbere, St. Michael Yemetu and St. Lawrence Lasokun.

Kick off time:

The event commenced with accreditation at 9:30 AM, ensuring all participants were registered and seated before the official start at 10:00 AM. Each parish demonstrated impressive teamwork and deep knowledge in both rounds, making the competition intense and engaging. 

Final Results and Advancing Teams 

After an exciting battle of wits, the final standings were as follows: 

St. Anne Ogbere 57 points, St. Michael Yemetu 50 points, St. Anne Sasa 40 points, St. Mulumba Alakia 38 points, St. Gabriel Mokola 37 points, St. Thomas Agbowo 37 points, St. Leo Challenge 20 points and St. Lawrence Lasokun 20 points. 

With this result, the top four parishes St. Anne Ogbere, St. Michael Yemetu, St. Anne Sasa, and St. Mulumba Alakia have qualified for the next stage of the competition.

The event was not just about winning but also about fostering faith, learning, and community spirit. Participants and spectators alike enjoyed the healthy competition, which served as a platform for spiritual and intellectual growth.
