IBADAN ARCHDIOCESAN LEAGUE OF LAY READERS CELEBRATES THE FEAST DAY OF ST. PAUL.

The Archdiocesan League of Lay Readers gathered on Saturday, 25th January, 2025 to celebrate their annual feast day.

The event started with a Holy Mass, led by Rev. Fr. Michael Aime Lalsaga (M.Afr), who delivered a thought-provoking homily. He emphasized the transformative power of personal conversion, guided by the exemplary life of our Patron, Saint Paul De Apostle. And that members should draw inspiration from his life and his teachings.

Speaking further, Fr. Michael reminded all the Lectors that true conversion means reassessing our values, commitment and relationships with God and one another. He also encouraged us to see conversion as a journey where individual’s response to God’s call is crucial. And that Lectors actions and words can serve as powerful witness to other, which involves willingness   to let go of our past mistakes, to grow and deepen our relationship with God. Thereby, becoming a beacon of hope to our society and testimony to the transformation power of faith.

The event also featured a quiz competition among the parishes represented, thereby showing their knowledge of our Catholic faith through the Epistles of St. Paul to the Ephesians and Romans as well as Church’s doctrines and general knowledge of the league.

The competition came to an end with an encouraging remarks from our Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Felix Idowu Ethapemi, who presented the awards to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions of the three parishes: 1st Position – St Ignatius of Layola Parish, 2nd Position – St Mary Cathedral and 3rd Position – St Anne Sasa.

He also thanked the Executives of the leagues members before the Feast was rounded off with a closing prayer.
