ST. LAWRENCE WELCOMES REV. FR. PETER IBIMILUYI

Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, Lasokun, has welcomed its new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Peter Ibimiluyi, who has also assured the parishioners that God will never destroy His people.

The Parish Priest made this assertion in his homily while celebrating his first Sunday Mass as the Pastor of the parish.

The new Parish Priest, who arrived the parish on Friday, November 15 was received by the former Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Michael Woods and a host of parishioners led by the Chairman and President of both the Pastoral and Laity Councils, Chief Paul Aniakor and Mr Emmanuel Azieze respectively. Mrs Deborah Oyekan, CWO President and CMO members were also in attendance.

Continuing his homily, Fr. Ibimiluyi enjoined the faithful not to allow life’s problems and troubles to overwhelm them, assuring the faithful that those who identify with God will enjoy eternal happiness for as long as they do not loose our Christians’ identities.

Contending that it was impossible to prevent sudden death, Fr. Ibimiluyi said death comes at God’s own time and therefore urged the faithful to ensure that their names are written in the book of life.

Meanwhile, Fr. Peter Ibimiluyi has promised to improve on the works of his immediate predecessors, Rev. Frs: Francis Onugha and Michael woods. He gave this assurance in his speech after he was formally introduced by the outgoing Priest, Fr. Michael Woods.

Fr. Ibimiluyi commended the efforts of both outgone priests in making Lasokun a Eucharistic and Loving Community after God’s own heart. He promised to model the Community to become similar to that of the early Christian believers. “Our guiding passage, he said, will be Acts 2:42-47 which painted a beautiful picture of what a vibrant and spirit-filled Community looks like.”

As Pastor, he promised to apply God’s word in the lives of the parishioners, foster meaningful relationship and connection, care for one another’s needs and share the Gospel with the Community, among others.
