Dames Hub Wellness Initiative Media

ILORIN, KWARA STATE — Dames Hub Wellness Initiative, in collaboration with Chances and Opportunities Inc., Texas; the Catholic Diocese of Ilorin; and Rotary Club of Ilorin-Sunrise, held a special midlife wellness seminar on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Upper Hall of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin.

The Seminar, themed “Andropause & Menopause: Men and Women Dealing with Midlife,” was the flagship outreach in a series of programmes commemorating the 88th Birthday, 60 Years of Priestly Ordination and 55 Years of Episcopal Ministry of Most Rev. Dr. Felix Alaba Adeosin Job, Archbishop Emeritus of Ibadan.

Archbishop Job, Grand Patron of Chances and Opportunities Inc., Texas, has continued to positively influence generations through his pastoral leadership, mentorship, commitment to education and service to humanity. The organizations therefore chose to commemorate his milestones not only through celebration, but through programmes designed to improve lives and strengthen communities.

Dames Hub Promotes Healthier Midlife Living

Dames Hub Wellness Initiative is a community health and wellness outreach organisation committed to preventive health education, holistic wellbeing and increasing awareness of health issues affecting women, families and communities. It places particular emphasis on midlife wellness, and women’s health, health education, and empowering individuals to make better-informed decisions about their wellbeing.

The organisation has His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, CFR, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, as its Royal Father.

Through seminars, community engagements and outreach programmes, Dames Hub Wellness Initiative seeks to bring practical health information closer to people, particularly on issues that are often overlooked or poorly understood.

According to Mrs. Valentina Ibirogba-Unaji, Founder/Lead Convener of Dames Hub Wellness Institute, menopause is increasingly becoming part of public health conversations, but many women still enter midlife without adequate preparation or understanding of what is happening to their bodies. Andropause and male midlife health receive even less attention.

The Ilorin programme consequently provided sessions for men and women, allowing participants to discuss sensitive health concerns more freely and receive practical, age-appropriate information.

Experts Address Midlife Health

The men’s session featured Dr. Muhammed Oyeniyi Rasheed, MBBS, MPH, MHPM, FWACP, Deputy Director and Program Manager, AIDS, STI & Hepatitis Control, Kwara State Ministry of Health.

Dr. Rasheed addressed andropause and male midlife health, including hormonal and physical changes associated with ageing, possible symptoms, lifestyle considerations and the importance of seeking appropriate medical attention.

The women’s session featured Mrs. Joan Olayinka JobZeni, BSc Psychology, Registered Nurse Midwife and Chief Nursing Officer at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Her presentation focused on menopause and women’s midlife health, helping participants better understand the menopausal transition, its possible physical and emotional manifestations and practical approaches to navigating this stage of life with greater confidence and awareness.

Both sessions incorporated interactive discussions and questions from participants.

Partnership and Community Impact

The outreach demonstrated Dames Hub Wellness Initiative’s commitment to building partnerships across the health, faith, nonprofit, professional and private sectors to expand access to credible community health education.

The programme received support from ELBE Pharma Nigeria Ltd., associated with Pharmaceutical brands including Amatem Softgel and Daravit Woman.

The Dames Hub team was led by Ms. Justina Akpan, Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Lead, alongside Mr. Vincent Abuchi, Creative Design and Brand Communications Lead. Hotjist Media provided media coverage and documentation.

Following the Ilorin flagship programme, Medical Outreaches are planned in the Catholic Dioceses of Osogbo, Oyo and Ijebu in the coming months, with a Grand Finale scheduled for Ijebu Diocese in December 2026.
