APC Governorship Candidate in Oyo State Visits Archbishop Abegunrin

The Governorship Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator (Barr.) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli PhD paid a visit to the Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin in the Chancery on Monday, 27th July 2026; to inform His Grace of his intention to contest the State’s Governorship Election and to seek for His Grace’s priestly blessings.

The delegation was led by Sir Olufemi Michael, KSM; who introduced the Candidates delegation, which also included his running Mate, Hon. Adesoji Michael Adedeji and other members of the party to His Grace.

The Governorship Candidate who thanked the Archbishop for receiving him in his office stated that his government is going to be the best, having served in different capacities at all levels of the government and will be a government for all, irrespective of religion or tribe.

The Archdiocese of Ibadan Catholic Women’s Organization’s members who were at the Chancery on different mission entirely also witnessed the visit.

Archbishop Abegunrin in his remarks affirmed that Catholic Church is always ready to work with any progressive government, since members of the Church are also members of the public to be served by the political office holders. He added that the Church loves good governance that will ensure good education, job opportunities, provision of basic amenities and other infrastructures. His Grace recalled how he was able to work with different governments while in Osogbo, irrespective of the religion of office holders; even as he is also joining a delegate from the Church to see the President, Senator Bola Tinubu within the week, still on good governance for the country.

The delegation also informed the Archbishop of its intention to take its campaign to parishes in the Archdiocese. The Archbishop wishes the Governorship Candidate well and prayed that the good Lord bless the candidate’s good intentions for the masses.
