Saint Anne Catholic Church, Igangan Holds Mass Wedding Celebration

On September 14, 2024, St. Anne Catholic Church in Igangan hosted a memorable mass-wedding for six elderly couples, marking an important event in their lives. The celebration began with meticulous preparations, including rehearsals and setting up the Church to accommodate the unique ceremony.

The Holy Matrimony Mass commenced at 10:20 am, with Rev. Fr. Victor Ugbor as the Chief Celebrant. The Mass began with the First Reading from the Book of Genesis 2:21-24, recounting how God created woman from the bone of man. This was followed by the Psalm and the Second Reading from Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians 6:13-19. The Gospel reading followed, setting the stage for the homily.

Fr. Callistus Afolabi delivered a heartfelt homily on the theme: ‘Love and the significance of Prayer in marriage’, emphasizing their importance for a lasting union.

Following the homily, the Rite of Marriage was conducted, during which the Couples exchanged vows and received the blessing of the rings. The Couples included: Pius Sangodokun and Mary Olapade; Eniola Ogunwole and Elizabeth Abosede; Olojede Mathew and Dauda Serifat; Samuel Omotolashe and Adijat Adebisi; Adedeji John and Oyingboola Aminat; John Alade Eegunjobi and Victoria Taiwo Ojenike.

After signing the Marriage Certificates, the Couples had thanksgiving. The parish chairman delivered an appreciation speech, expressing gratitude and joy for the Couples’ commitment. 

The Mass concluded around 1:10 pm, and the celebration continued with an atmosphere of happiness and joy among the newly wedded couples and their families.
