HIERARCHY OF WORSHIP

There are three hierarchy of worship namely

Dulia

Hyperdulia

Latria

Dulia:  This is a type of veneration which honors the Saints and angels, because their friend God manifested Himself in them. It is not the same as the worship of adoration given to God alone.

Hyperdulia: This is a special form of homage given to Mary in her roles as Mother of God, Co-redemptress with Christ, and Mediatrix of all graces. Different from the adoration given to God, it stresses her unique sanctity, beyond that of all other creatures, Angels, and Saints.

Latria; The essential adoration owed and offered to God alone because of His preeminent excellence and to show our total subservience to Him. This sign of interior reverence is usually shown outwardly by symbolic gestures of bowing and kneeling. Latria is uniquely distinct from veneration given to any creature.
