St. Michael Idi Ayunre Organized Youth Camp for CYON.

The youths were filled with Joy and Happiness for the maiden edition of Youth Camp. It began on Sunday 1st of September and ended on Sunday 8th of September, 2024. Day one was Opening Mass and awareness at all stations.

Second of September was on CARRER TALK AND LIQUID SOAP MAKING. The Career talk was anchored by Rev. Sr. Celine Nwoko HHCJ. She described career as the job one does and has become professional in it.

There are some important things to note when choosing any career: Self Assessment, Career Identification, Career Exploration, Passion and Skills. She advised parents not to force any career on their children.

She urged them to allow them learn different skills that will help them to succeed in life. After the career talk the youths were taught how to make liquid soap.

Fourth of September focused on SPELLING DRILLS COMPETITION AND BAKING. There was spelling drill competition among the youths who were grouped into four different saint name: Group 1 Saint Monica, Group 2 Saint Cecilia, Group 3 Saint Rita and Group 4 Saint Anthony. 

After the spelling drill competition the participants were taught how to make Puff-puff, Chin-chin and Egg Buns by Mrs Soyinka, the CEO of Finest Catering and Event Planner. She advised the Youths to see it as an opportunity to establish themselves. There were also outdoors games, Scrabble, Ludo game, playing card etc.

Sixth of September centered on HEALTH TALK and COBBLING. The Health Talk was about Mental Health. This was conducted by Mrs. Patricia Olatunji. Mental Health is related to someone emotions, heart and attitude.

She said the role of a parent is very important in a child's mental health. She identified some factors that could affect mental health. They include: Poor parenting background, Environmental factors, Peer pressure, and

Technological aspects among others. After the health talk the youths acquired cobbling skill.

Seventh of September bordered on COMMUNITY SERVICE AND INITIATIVE. This was done in various outstations of the Parish. This has to do with cleaning and sweeping of the Church compound.

GRAND FINALE, Eighth OF SEPTEMBER was about Thanksgiving Mass and film show. The movie was about the life of BAKHITA, her journey from slavery to Sainthood. Awards and prizes were given to the best behaved participant.

The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Oniseitan Olatunji Matthew appreciated the organizer of the youth camp. He also encouraged the participants not to forgot all the skills learnt during the youth camp as a means to established themselves.
