CMO of St. Gabriel Catholic Church Elects New Executive Council

The Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Mokola, has successfully conducted its parish election, ushering in a new executive council to oversee the affairs of the organization in the parish.

The election, held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, reflecting the parish’s strong commitment to democratic participation and collective leadership.

The newly elected officers are as follows: Mr. Pius Nsabe – President; Mr. Abiodun Akorede – Vice President; Mr. Simon Senaya – Secretary; Mr. Solomon Omaga – Assistant Secretary; Mr. Augustine Wandeyahyel – Financial Secretary; Catechist Eric Oforjiogu – Treasurer; Mr. Charles Akanmadu – Welfare Officer; Mr. Dominic Akerele – Public Relations Officer I; Mr. Ikenna Nwaelugwu – Public Relations Officer II; Mr. Michael Olajide – Provost; Mr. Andrew Didindi – Head of Liturgical Committee and Mr. Peter Chibuogwu – Ex Officio.

Presenting the winners after the elections, Dr. S. O. S. Alieme, who chaired the electoral committee, commended the members for their conduct during the election, and appreciated the efforts of other electoral committee members including Mr. F. I. Charles Onyeaghala, Mr. Ekene Ugwu (Secretary), and Catechist David Emmanuel for ensuring a smooth and credible process. He also expressed gratitude to the Parish Pastoral Council Chairperson, Mrs Patricia Fadimu and the Archdiocesan team for their support and observation.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Mr. Pius Nsabe, acknowledged the hand of God and expressed appreciation to the Parish Priests, the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Laity Council, members of the CMO in the parish, as well as the Catholic Men Organization Archdiocese of Ibadan for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to work collaboratively with the newly elected executive council, which he described as a dedicated team, to build on the existing foundation.

Also present at the election was the Archdiocesan team led by its President, Sir Felix Adoroh KSM, alongside the Vice President, Mr. Christopher Ololo; the General Secretary, Mr. Anthony Agbons; and Mr. Davidmary Ikpherua, CMO President of Sacred Heart Parish, Ilupeju. The team commended the peaceful and credible conduct of the election, describing it as free and fair. The President further urged the new executives to sustain the good work already established in the parish, noting that CMO Mokola remains a vital part of the Archdiocesan body.

Members of the organization expressed confidence in the newly elected leadership, noting that the council is expected to consolidate on existing achievements while introducing initiatives that will strengthen unity, enhance member welfare, and promote active participation in liturgical life.

The election marks a significant milestone in the administrative life of the parish CMO, underscoring the value of democratic processes within faith-based organizations.

Rev. Fr. JohnPaul Aninwodo, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Mokola, witnessed the conduct of the election and offered prayers for the outgoing and incoming executives, as well as for April birthday celebrants, who later marked the occasion with members of the organization. Earlier, the Parish priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Eseola had made a brief appearance, lauding the immediate past exco for the commitment before dissolving the exco to allow for a new election.
