Catechist Benedict Mayaki Honoured at Retirement Thanksgiving Mass

The Catholic faithful gathered in joy and gratitude on Saturday, 28th February 2026, at St. Kizito Catholic Church, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, for the retirement thanksgiving Mass of Catechist Benedict Mayaki, who has served diligently in the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan.

 

The solemn celebration was marked by heartfelt tributes and thanksgiving for his many years of dedicated service to the Church and the people of God. In his homily, Very Rev. Fr. Gregory Oyelami described Catechist Mayaki as “a man of prayer, honesty, hardworking, and faithful to his matrimonial vow.” He praised his unwavering commitment to the Gospel, his integrity, and his exemplary family life, which have inspired many within the Christian community.

 

Parishioners, family members, and well-wishers expressed deep appreciation for his sacrificial service, particularly in catechetical instruction and pastoral support. The thanksgiving Mass was not only a celebration of retirement but also a testimony to a life devoted to faith, service, and steadfast love for God and the Church.

 

The event concluded with prayers for God’s continued blessings upon Catechist Mayaki as he begins a new chapter of well-deserved rest and fulfillment.
