Charity Dày at Holy Family, Yawiri
Fr. Francis Taiwo OMOLADE
The adage "charity begins at home" was concretely displayed on Sunday 21st December, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Yawiri, Akobo, Ibadan when parishioners in preparation for the Christmas celebration were given gifts to have a joyful celebration. This was put up by the Parish Welfare Committee who had sourced for the items that were distributed both from within and outside the parish. The motive behind this gesture was to help those who are in need to celebrate Christmas with joy. The items distributed ranged from table top cooker, clothing, beddings, house utensils, food items, chicken and cash. Parishioners picked items of their choices according to their needs.
It was indeed a happy moment as young and old who needed a particular item picked without hindrance. At the end, the aim was achieved as smile was put in the faces of beneficiaries. Beneficiaries were grateful to the Parish for the kind gesture extended to them at this time when sharing of gifts is encouraged and expected of us Christians as we celebrate the coming of our saviour at Christmas.
The beneficiaries with grateful hearts prayed for the Parish and the Committee in charge and like Oliver Twist, they prayed that such exercise should continue in the future. At the end of the programme, the Chairperson of the Welfare Committee, Lady Nonso Ughieghele, thanked the donors and pray for God's abundant blessings upon then. She encouraged other parishioners for donation of items in the subsequent events.
The Chairperson also appreciated the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Taiwo Omolade for his approval and prayer over the items before selection by the beneficiaries. She concluded by appealing to beneficiaries to make good use of the items. She reiterated also that the items were meant for their use and not for sale. At the end, all went home with joy in their hearts.
