St. Francis Catholic Church, Sanyo-Soka Conducts 2025 Harvest Bazaar Joyously!
John ESENE
Sunday, 9th November 2025 was quite unique for the parishioners of St. Francis Catholic Church, Sanyo-Soka, Ibadan as they came together, as one Happy Family to conduct the long awaited Harvest Bazaar. The Mass which commenced at 10am was celebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Adeyemo who welcomed everyone present joyfully.
In his homily, the priest encouraged all present to thank God sincerely for the grace accorded them to be part of the harvest after that of last year. He reminded all of the good things Jesus could no longer do physically which they have to do referring to Jesus’ words on the last Station of the Cross. He brought to their consciousness the unity of the Church which Jesus prayed for that “They may be one as He and the Father are one.” The Homilist cautioned all not to lament their situation, that for the fact that they are alive, they should thank God who has not abandoned them.
The harvest which is the third of its kind after the establishment of the Parish was well attended by neighboring parishes: Specifically, the former mother parish- OLF, Eleta and St Eunnan’s Odo-Oba.
The activities of the harvest bazaar started when every family of the parish was encouraged to bring forward their thanksgiving items which were later sold to those present at the bazaar to support the building project after the priest had blessed them. Other activities during the bazaar included breaking of kolanut, love feast, cutting of cake and music.
The Chairman of the Harvest Committee, Paul Bakare expressed appreciation to Barrister Cajetan Iweoha and his wife who out of their busy schedule, created time to come and chair the Bazaar Session. He also expressed appreciation to other invited guests, who though could not come physically, sent their donations.
The event ended with closing prayer by the Catechist, Mr. James Akinmoladun while the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Adeyemo gave the final blessing at about 4.10pm. It was a day, all who attend this bazaar harvest would not easily forget. So we thank God for everything!
