“Be Christ of the People”- Priestly Ordination Thanksgiving of Fr. Peace Matthew Jemibor
It was a joyful day at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lasokun as the Parish welcomes her Second Priest, Rev. Fr. Peace Omatsola Matthew Jemibor for his thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, August 18th, 2024.
Rev. Fr. Peace Jemibor, the second priest from the Catechist Kingsley Jemibor family was ordained on Thursday, August 15th by Archbishop Gabriel Leke Abegunrin at Christ the King Catholic Church.
The thanksgiving Mass at St. Lawrence was packed full of well-wishers from far and near, including Muslims and other Christians from the community.
Rev. Fr. Peace Jemibor, was the Chief Celebrant at the Mass with the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Michael woods, as well as Rev. Frs. John Osogbo and Peter Jemibor concelebrating. Fr. Peter Jemibor was the homilist.
The choir was at its best rendering spiritual hymns. The Responsorial psalm was taken by our own former choir mistress, Mrs Isuagie. She is the first child of the Jemibor family.
In his homily, Fr. Peter noted that God had indeed remembered and blessed St. Lawrence Catholic Church family by blessing us with a second priest. He continued by saying that the ordination of Fr. Peace was a response to God’s call. “God called him, not because he is perfect, but because he saw enough goodness and generosity in the depth of his heart to make him His servant to shepherd his people.”
Dear Fr. Peace, he said, ‘God called you to preach the gospel with joy, celebrate the sacraments with faith, counsel and care for God’s people with love.’
However, besides the gift of a car by the parish, societies and organisations also presented gifts to the new priest. There was also enough to eat and drink while children, youths and other groups presented playlets and songs to thrill the people
