IBADAN ARCHDIOCESE CELEBRATES JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE FOR CATECHISTS AND PASTORAL AGENTS FROM 26TH–28TH SEPTEMBER, 2025
The Holy Father Pope Francis last year declared the Jubilee year from December 24, 2024 to January 6, 2026, with the Theme ‘Pilgrims of hope’ emphasizing the importance of Hope and trust in God’s promises. It is a time for spiritual renewal, mercy and abundant grace coupled with various events for Catholics of different walks of life.
In declaring the Jubilee Year of hope in the universal Church, the catechists as well as other pastoral agents such as the Sunday School teachers and religious educators were given a pride of place and special recognition as a result of their contribution to the growth of faith in the life of the faithful community through their dedication, they pass on the faith, nurture Christian values, and sustain parish life across generations.
The Jubilee Year of hope is therefore not only a time of appreciating our pastoral agents but also a moment of grace—inviting pastoral agents to renew their mission with zeal, deepen their witnessing to the Gospel, and celebrate those who have labored faithfully in the vineyard of the Lord.
With joy and gratitude, the Archdiocese of Ibadan gathers to mark this Jubilee Year of Hope from 26th to 28th September 2025, honouring Catechists, Sunday School Teachers, and Pastoral agents whose services continue to build-up the Body of Christ.
A three-day programme has been outlined for these pastoral agents: The pride of the Missionary Church. The entire Catholics in the Archdiocese, friends and well-wishers are invited to celebrate these great men and women of faith. The program of events is as follows:
